How Does a Celebrant Personalise Your Wedding Ceremony?
📖 For me, it starts with getting to know the two people standing at the centre of it all. I want the stories, the quirks, the little things you do for each other, the moments your people will instantly recognise as you.
Being a celebrant is truly an art form. It’s about capturing the essence of your relationship and translating it into a ceremony that feels just right. Here’s how I weave my magic to make your big day a heartfelt moment that screams YOU!!
Getting to Know You 🎤

It all starts with a conversation.
I chat with couples to understand who you are, how you met, and what makes your story unique. This isn’t just small talk—I dive deep - I need all the bits! Next up The Lovers Questionnaire - intended to be a fun little reflection on your love and a bit of a wish list for your future. It helps me get a sense of your journey together. It’s packed with questions that make you reminisce and laugh, and gives me all those little details I can weave into your ceremony so it actually sounds and feels like you.
💡 Hot tip... Couples often do them side by side or sitting in bed - the intention is to get each person's perspectives and create some fun.
Uncovering the Details 🕵️♀️
I’m a bit pushy… in the best way!
I ask lots of questions about your story and frame them to include seeing, feeling, and experiencing. This helps you give me your absolute best because you are the master of your story. And if I need more details, I push further. My goal is to understand not just what happened, but what those moments felt like, so your ceremony is authentic, heartfelt and unmistakably yours.
Crafting the Ceremony ✍️
With all the juicy details in hand, I get to work crafting your ceremony.
Words are my kryptonite – it’s actually ridiculous how excited I get with a good new word added to my vocabulary. I just think the power of words is immense they can really add colour and flair to anything. I use them to bring your love story to life. I ask all my couples to tell it to me straight—just give me the details you don’t need to be great with words - I will craft it into the story. I've got you! Through playful wordplay and the magic of storytelling, I create a ceremony that captivates your guests and leaves a lasting impression. I’ve dedicated myself to mastering the art of storytelling. It is a great love of mine. I wield the love of this craft to make your ceremony engaging, memorable, and a true reflection of your love.

Why Words Matter!
The English language is so full of vibrancy, possibility, and colour; it’s rife with creativity and nuance. Using a little alliteration can add a lyrical, memorable quality - whimsical and beautiful. Or subconsciously you feel satisfied and complete by hearing something said in threes.
‘There’s nothing they love more than their cats, each other and of course the family they’ve created.’
Sometimes it’s the contrast that makes your story sound like you. Maybe you’re complete opposites in some ways and ridiculously alike in others. Maybe there are little phrases, running jokes or stories your people instantly recognise. I play with those details, the rhythm of the words and where the big moments land to create the vibe we want your ceremony to have.
The Big Day 🎉
On the day of your celebration, I’m there to ensure everything goes off without a hitch. I handle the legal paperwork, guide you through the vows, and make sure the ceremony we created on paper actually feels like you in the room.
I’m reading the energy, knowing when to let a laugh breathe, when to slow things down, when to give you a second to take it all in, and when to keep things moving. Because personalising a ceremony isn’t just about the words I write — it’s how I deliver them too. I’m your voice-over, timekeeper and scriptwriter — all rolled into one!
Creating Lasting Memories 📸
My ultimate goal is to make your ceremony a joyous and memorable kickass milestone to reflect on. Because personalising a ceremony isn’t about throwing in a few inside jokes and calling it done. It’s getting to know you, finding the stories and little details that matter, choosing the right words, and then bringing it all together in a way that feels completely natural on the day.
I’ve got the legalities covered and the vibes ready. You just need to turn up, be yourselves and enjoy the hell out of getting married. 💛
Personalised Wedding Ceremony FAQs
How does a celebrant personalise your wedding ceremony?
For me, it starts with getting to know you properly. I want the stories, the quirks, the people who matter, the things you love about each other and those tiny details your friends and family will instantly recognise. Then I weave those pieces into a ceremony that sounds like you — not something I could swap your names out of and use for the next couple.
What information does a celebrant need to write a personalised ceremony?
Every celebrant works differently, but I use conversations and my Lovers Questionnaire to dig into your story. I want to know how you met, what life looks like together, what you love about each other, the funny stuff, the meaningful stuff and all those little moments in between. And if I read something that makes me think, hang on, I need more of this story, I’ll ask!
Do we get to see our wedding ceremony before the wedding?
Absolutely! I send you your ceremony before the big day because I want you to have that little moment where you read it for the first time and think, oh my god, this is so us! Then I want you to read it again with a slightly more practical eye. Maybe there’s one word you’d never say, something that doesn’t quite sound like you, or a little detail you want to change. We tweak it together until you can read it and think, yep... that’s perfectly us. Then I know I’ve got it right.
Can our ceremony still be personal if we’re private people?
Absolutely. Personal doesn’t have to mean sharing your deepest, darkest secrets in front of 100 people. 😂 It might be a little story, a shared habit, the way you describe each other or something your people will quietly recognise as so you. We decide together where that line sits.
Does a personalised wedding ceremony have to be really sentimental?
Not at all! Personalised means it reflects you. That might be heartfelt and romantic, hilarious and cheeky, beautifully simple, or a bit of everything. I’m not trying to turn you into a couple you’re not. I want your ceremony to feel comfortable, genuine and unmistakably yours.
